.....project. http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/nes_vs/nes_vs_en.php?section_id=10
Ok I need the game patched. I'm not very good with hex editors. If somebody could help me it would be nice. Also could you fuse the files afterwards please? (page 12) Also would be nice if you tested if the patch worked. So anybody up for it?

(sorry if my grammar is a bit off, I'm dutch)

edit: sorry, I already got someone to do it. Thanks anyway.

edit2: there seems to be a problem with my patched version. in the emulator the colors are off (well of course since it's expecting the "non nes compatible palett") but the big problem is. For some reason it won't react to the insert coin command. (it does work with the non patched version) if somebody could repatch it would be a apreciated.

So what exactly are you trying to do here? You're trying to run VS SMB on a a NES?
Personally, I'd just ASM hack it to be some other mapper.
Try double checking for differences with something like FC /B to see if the file was changed in places it shouldn't have been.

Edit: By the way, that Palette Fix is awful. It uses bad colors for its lookup table. I got better results with the table found in pocketnes.

I just mapper hacked the game from Mapper 99 to Mapper 3. (Changed 6 writes from 4016 to 8000, changed values 06 to 01 and 02 to 00)

The game fails on Nestopia and Nintendulator, works on other emulators. Coins are inserted with Famicom Microphone button on VirtuaNES. I guess that properly running VS SMB in non-vs mode is now a test case which emulators are supposed to fail?

Mmmmm nice job. (Personally I'm not very good at that stuff....yet) I patched the rom myself now I got correct colors. (well the patched ones) but the coin insertion stil doesn't work.

edit: also i'd rather not build a cartridge. (or mod a cartridge and solder it on) cause i'm kinda looking for a summer project. And the colors don't really bother me.

edit2: yay got it too work. Problem: for some reason this patch makes most emulators not reconise this as vs super mario. (prob looks at certain parts of code) I booted virtuanes and it allows you to force the dipswitches anyway. Yay free play mode!

edit3: ok final I found the adress that controls coins. If you poke at adress 6610 with cheats/debug you can "insert" coins
